| Tim Skubic is reporting on his (relatively) new blog, Skoops, that Republican leaders are asking John Ramsey to run again for the seat being vacated early by Kevin Elsenheimer. Ramsey lost a primary in 2004 to Elsenheimer by a few hundred votes, and Elsenheimer is leaving early to run for appellate judge. It was the entry of Dennis Lennox, known for his Gary Peters camera work and Central Michigan University's response to his protests about Peters' hiring, that probably prompted a quick move by Republican leaders. So that brings two freak shows into the Michigan races this year, with ironically the other one being against Gary Peters and Joe Knollenberg by Jack Kevorkian. While it would be improper to speculate about Ramsey's motives or past, he's certainly the type of national media figure that will bring more heat to a race than light. |
