| Next Thursday a Livingston County Judge will rule on the union e-mail case I've been working on for more than a year now, acording to this Livingston Daily piece by Lisa Roose-Church: Latreille said he expects to give his opinion on the matter Sept. 25 at 1:30 p.m. in Livingston County Circuit Court.
The article adequately describes the substance of the case, which I reported on heavily on Power, Politics, & Money prior to this site's existence: Judge Stanley J. Latreille said he will review the e-mails — regarding discussion in 2007 about election candidates, officials in office or ballot proposals — to determine if the correspondence should be released under the Freedom of Information Act to an Oakland County researcher, who says he's investigating whether union leaders are using school resources for union business.
The researcher, Chetly Zarko, has said his concern is to identify whether teachers were lobbying using school resources, in particular taxpayer-paid computers.
Naturally, I'll have more to say about this story over the next few days. |
